I just finished a fascinating new book focused on the reigns of Greece's last three kings from the standpoint of Greek/English diplomatic relations.
The book is called "Greece and the English: British Diplomacy and the Kings of Greece," and is written by a young Greek historian, Panagiotis Dimitrakis.
Be warned. The book very unflattering in its asssessment of the conduct and attitudes of George II, Paul, Constantine II, and especially Queen Frederika. The author cites a great many sources to support his overall theme that the Greek monarchy never established genuine roots in Greece and that serious blame for this failure can be attributed in no small part to the poor judgement of each successive monarch.
The book is certainly a refreshing tonic to the best known English language books written by champions the Greek Royals.
