Recently I bought this book:

I like this collection a lot and have most of it.
On page 153 there is a physical description of the island, saying it constitutes a natural park or reserve for c. 150 mouflons ( a kind of goats) and a brief story:
"Accoding to the ition, king Carlo Alberto of Piedmont and Savoy disembarked on the island to see the legendary goats "with golden teeth" ( a phenomen caused by the kind of grass they ate). He became so fascinated by the island that he granted its only inhabitant Paolo Bertolini the officail title of King of Tavolara.
