: If H-M and M-M had not have any children;

: would then a situation "a la Charles
: XIII of Sweden", adopting Bernadotte,
: be viable ?
Bernadotte did not become an heir to the Swedish throne by adoption, but by election.
Have you seen the Norwegian Constitution Article 7?
"If there is no Princess or Prince entitled to the succession, the King may propose his successor to the Storting, which has the right to make the choice if the King’s proposal is not accepted."
: Mind you, Bernadotte had no relation with
: the SRF opposite to Marius who would be the
: king's stepson, ok not directly related to
: the king, but to the king's wife.
: Or would Norway just change to a republic
: after H-M death for lack of eligible heirs ?
I find it difficult to believe that Norway in this time and age would bother to elect a new dynasty if the present one should die out. A republic would then be much more realistic. Theoretically it would of course be possible to elect a descendant of the Ragnhild or Astrid branches (who don't have succession rights), but I don't think it would be realistic to choose someone most Norwegians have no knowledge of.
