the title of Prince/ss de Belique is younger one than roi/reine de Belges and features in the grand titre. So it is not at all queen trumps princess. One can have indeed both.
Erik meant with that she became H.M. Queen Fabiola after her husband's death; before she was H.M. The Queen. The Princess of Belgium title remained unchanged.
