Recently I have been reading books on Kaiser Wilhelm II and I noticed that in all the books I read the wives of the German emperors are all referred to by their first names except Victoria, wife of Friedrich III. Wilhelm I's wife is called empress Augusta, Wilhelm II's wife, Dona, is called empress Augusta Victoria but the wife/widow of Friedrich III is called empress Friedrich. Was she known as the empress Victoria during her husband's brief tenure on the throne and reverted to the other style upon his death?
