Recently, I faced someones writing alleging that there is no fee nor any action needed when one succeeds to a British peerage.
However, afaik, registration to the new Roll of Peers is needed; and seemingly always there is some fee or reimbursement involved.
In some cases, necessary paperwork and claims handling may incur really substantial fees.
One should observe that no peerage gets properly and effectively succeeded, if there is no claiming procedure employed for it.
One of saddest parts in that was that I would have thought those who alleged that no action, no claims handling, no fee, are needed; that everything is automatic;
should have known at least a bit better.
