Jane,
why even worry about it.
Incidentally, I wrote about the history of the Swedish succession for Majesty Magazine several years ago ... It was an article about the change in succession laws called "Girl power."

: Yes, I realize this (and in fact, that was the
: whole reason why Parliament felt justified
: in applying the new law retroactively).
: What the poster meant (and which someone
: explained to me via e-mail) was that the
: king and queen feared the consequences on
: the relationship between the siblings as
: they grew up.
:
: Carl Philip would eventually learn that he
: had been crown prince for a few months --
: only to be displaced in the succession by an
: older sister who hadn't even been born in
: line to the throne herself. Certainly
: matters would have been different (at least
: in the minds of their parents) had Victoria
: simply been born crown princess, and her
: brother second in line. Unfortunately,
: Parliament took some time in considering
: changes and taking actions (granted that
: there had been moves to change the
: succession as far back as 1975, with
: absolute primogeniture in mind for the
: prospective children of King Carl XVI
: Gustaf).
:
: Fortunately, however, the consequences
: proved to be largely theoretical -- as the
: majority of Swedes predicted: evidently, the
: children of the king enjoy a fairly
: harmonious relatonship.

: I would doubt that Carl Philip would have
: been
: aware of the situation .. he was probably
: blowing bubbles and having his diaper
: changed with the law was promulgated.
