Posted by ^o^ CORVUS ^o^ I'm about to start a new article that will be featured on my Thanos site, and I would like to get some opinions on the matter. In MARVEL - THE END, we all saw Thanos tap into a reserve of power that supposedly made him mightier than even the Infinity Gauntlet had done. However, to preserve the Universe, Thanos had to relinquish said might. Now, in "THANOS #1 - Epiphany", Thanos mentioned that he used the last dregs of his divine power to restore his shattered armada (I take it this is a reference to his robotic armada of battleships, destroyed at the climax of "Infinity Abyss"), and also to grant himself "a number of other life-assuring wishes". Now, this is where the wondering comes in. 1) We already know that in his original incarnation, Thanos was a powerful being, and already the mightiest of the Titans, able to easily slay the powerful Adam Warlock, and also to engage both Thor and the Thing in combat simultaneously and hold his own. This put him in a similar power-range to Thor himself, and also the likes of the Earth-Eternal, Zuras, and possibly a herald of Galactus. 2) When Death resurrected Thanos, she made him even more powerful than before. This boost in power allowed him to stand up to not only the Silver Surfer, but also to the likes of a power-gem boosted, insane Thor (temporarily anyway. The bearer of the power-gem cannot really be defeated in a physical battle), as well as Odin, and Tyrant, the Galactus-Spawn. While he couldn't really do much to Odin (Especially since they were fighting in Asgard itself), he nonetheless put up a good fight, and managed to survive relatively unscathed. Thus, it would seem that Thanos' new power-level was somewhere between that of a herald of Galactus, and a Skyfather. Now, all of the above is up to some level of debate. We've all seen just how powerful the Silver Surfer is (and, in-fact, as many have observed, he seemed to be de-powered during Starlin's tenure). I would wager that the Surfer can use his cosmic powers in far more ways than Thanos can. Nonetheless, Thanos' incredible ruthlessness, strength, and durability enabled him to get the better of the Surfer on several occasions, which goes to show just how powerful Thanos had become. However, I'm getting a bit off track. Here's the meat of the matter: 3) In Thanos' own series, we saw him take down Galactus with a blast of cosmic energy. Now, while he didn't really hurt Galactus with this blast, it did fling the world-devourer a fair distance. Later, during Giffen's arc, we saw Thanos display heretofore unrevealed levitation abilities, the ability to engage the mortal form of the Beyonder and also the Fallen in combat, and lastly what seemed to be a greater degree of telepathy than he had displayed in many years. So, looking at the events of Thanos' own series, I ask the following: Did one of Thanos' "life-assuring wishes" involve boosting his power-levels to some degree, or does he seem to be operating at around the same levels he had been following his resurrection at the hands of Mistress Death? Heh. I sure take a while to get to the point, don't I? :-D Anyway, I really look forward to the responses to my post. Link: Thanos - The Mad Titan
