: Honestly, Ultimatum is not that bad,
: considering Loeb's declining storytelling
: abilities (he used to be better then this, I
: swear!). This series appeals to my 17 year
: old self instead of my mid-30's self.
:
Due to past record I didn't pick it up. The scenes of the Blob eating the wasp and then Pym eating the Blob solidified me not picking it up. I am still lost what point Dormammu or Nick Fury have to showing up. Dormammu I would think would only make things worse and I fail to see how Fury contributes anything.
: Finch's art is top notch, if not perfect.
: You can really see that he's working hard to
: produce high quality art, and it definitely
: shows. I can't praise him enough.
:
That is one of Loeb's strengths. No matter what he writes he gets paired with top artists which is almost a guarantee the book will do well.
: Obviously, this is not Millar's Ultimates,
: but overall, it's a decent enough read
: despite the handful of cheesy, non-sensical
: moments.
:
If Thor knew Magneto could use the hammer why wasn't he more concerned? Why did he care more about rescuing his dead useless girlfriend when people might still be alive need help? Why would Valhalla be a realm of shadows and ruled by Hel? Why would Valkyrie even be in it if she wasn't a warrior or hero? Where the heck did she get her powers? It seemed like she made a deal with the devil or Loki? If she was sent to Hel why was Captain America there? Why didn't Thor just ask dad for help? Has he become too big of an embarrassment?
Sorry for the apparent rant. Thor has always been one of my favorite charactes. At times I questioned Millar's use of Norse characters, but Loeb has thrown all of that completely out the window. Part of me thinks he does not even bother to read any work to prepare for these assignments.
