I don't think I've read any Chaykin since American Flagg, which was basically a prototype for Miller's all Star Batman, so I expected the wrong thing when I picked up the first issue of the new series today. I expected great and I got awesome! The man's writing skills have gotten even better through the years. I loved his dialog and narrativemore than anything else today besides Astonishing X-Men and Manhunter. Turini could use some polishing (only the subtle use of dialog kept me straight on who was who at times) but it's mostly his figure work I think needs improving. His story telling sense and backgrounds were great! I was never a fan of the JMS Squadron but I'm on board now for as long as Chaykin is!
