I don't think it should end, I think it needs to be restructured and given a clear bloody statement for each title.
I think Spiderman, Fantastic Four and Peripheral titles stay the same, but Ultimates needs to be tightened up a great deal. Following Mark Millar was always going to be a tough job, but they need to keep the characters and the storyline types consistant. Millar worked a lot of Avengers lore into the Ultimates without just making it "This story is about Ultron's!" "This story is about Ant man". They all had a place in a mixed storyline.
Loeb's Ultimates are a bit one tack. X-Men, again, theres so much potential to MINE here, it's insane. You could have the evolution of society and ideas rather than just 90's concept thrown up onto a plate of crap. It's annoying and it's pointless.
Comparing Ultimate Human to Ultimate X-Men - Concepts like that can EASILY be used. Looking into the evolution, and role for the new stage of human evolution, looking into the new ideas for society that Millar broached briefly. It could fly really well, but it's just crapped on.

: Ultimatum seems to be intended to be a shot
: of adrenaline in the Ultimate Universe to
: keep it alive, but does anyone even care.
: Also, since it is being written by Loeb
: whose work at Marvel at least from online
: reviews has mostly been considered subpar
: with it even get anyone interested? Should
: the Ultimate universe be written off as a
: neat experiment that just went sour? Or can
: it still exist with the main MU?
:
: It didn't really "go sour"; it was
: abandoned by Marvel. ULTIMATE POWER was a
: touchstone in UU history, because it marked
: a bold declaration that, instead of even
: trying to continue the groundbreaking work
: that had built the line, Marvel was simply
: going to milk the various Ultimate
: franchises, which were losing their original
: creators, for whatever quick bucks they
: could squeeze out of them before the whole
: thing collapsed. I hate to read something as
: great as ULTIMATE HUMAN and say there is no
: hope (UH should have been ULTIMATES 3), but
: there's no denying that the line's flagship
: has been torpedoed, and is sinking fast (it
: sells in spite of Loeb's best efforts and
: because of the cult of Joe Mad, which,
: honestly, really needs to go away--the '90s
: ended, and they sucked when they were
: happening). And there's nothing on the
: horizon to take its place.
