Also, some of the more popular writers on Ultimates like Millar nad Bendis are writing many of Marvel's current stories which helps explain the characterization of Captain America in Civil War. As the other poster stated the d4finition of hero has changed to "darker" apparently equals more realistic so that has influence the overall tone as well. Overall I would say it has had a positive effect, but I think they should make it clear the main Mu is not becoming the Ultimate one.

I would say Ultimate helped save Marvel since when it first started the Marvel company was doing poorly and its traditional comics needed a an adrenaline injection.
