I think there's a definite crossover in influence and while I can't argue Marvel is doing good commercially I'm not sure I like how they did it. The more real life model of the Ultimate U seems also based on the fact that the classic definition of a hero no longer applies. It's interesting but I really like heroic fiction and I miss it in the MU proper.
