Posted by The One on 9/15/2007, 8:06 pm How wrong I was. From the layout, to the multiple stories lines, to the unexpected, to the adult theme, this comic has it all. I've only read some of Alan Moore's Swamp Thing back in the day, and it was pretty darn good stuff. But Watchmen just blew me away. I couldn't wait to finish it. If you're a fan of Supreme Power, Rising Stars, and Ultimates, you'll definitely enjoy this. This was as good as it gets back at that time, but surprisingly good. The layout and paneling was definitely ground breaking for the time. It's actually quite impressive. Although the comic could have definitely made good use of some widescreen action, and larger panels in some areas to push the 'shock' scenes to the next flip page, otherwise very good. The coloring was not as distracting as I thought it would be, higher in quality than other comics released at the time. I would love for them to republish Watchmen with today's computerized coloring though. In conclusion, if you haven't read this, I can't recommend it enough.

Kurt Busiek once told me to go read Watchmen if I was such a big fan of the Ultimates. Thing is, many of the older comics are just too cheesy for me (particularly the 80's and early 90's, and god forbid the 70's). Furthermore, the coloring was old school and artwork was frankly just not as good as it is nowadays. So I suspected I wouldn't enjoy it.
