: Most of the characters (with the
: exception of Thor) seemed to be working from
: the idea that "might makes right"
: -- or that the country with the biggest guns
: (in this case still the Ultimates) makes the
: rules.
:
: Exactly how the real world operates.
:
:
: the fact that they're being
: supported by Stark Enterprises now just
: seems to reinforce the idea that corporate
: America controls all.
:
: Exactly what is happening in this country
: today.
:
:
: Still, as long as there's Thor I suppose
: there's hope...
:
: Couldn't have said it any better.
:
: The pessimist in me see all this crap going
: on in both this country and the world
: (similar to what Millar is trying to portray
: in the Ultimates), and the fantasy fan boy
: in me is rooting for someone, anyone, a
: Thor, to come and save the day. Maybe, he
: can convert a few people along the way to
: his cause.
:
: So it's this piece of fiction that is
: actually giving me hope, that in the face of
: "might makes right", "biggest
: guns makes the rules", and
: "corporate America controls all",
: the dream that there is still hope can live
: on.

The regular MU seems to leaning a little too much toward this take and I hope it stops. It's cool to have rea;ism (or realism according to the writer's world view) but I want the majority of my heroes to BE heroes. Maybe not as boy scout-y as Superman in the wrong hands but heroes nonetheless.
