I fill in the blanks with trades, like with the Ulimate Galactus trilogy (which was excellent!) which I hadn't even heard about. I was internetless at the time and the only Ultimate title I read is UFF. But as to the titles I do read--I like the monthly episodic thing, makes the pattern of my life--so much like a Dolly Parton song, you know the one, "working nine to five..."--have some guaranteed good bits, even if the goodness is awful writing, which UFF has been for a while, but picking up... maybe. Anywho, verdict: trades are good to catch up with, but comics books are the way comics are meant to be read. (Of course I also still listen to music in LP format, but that's another conversation).
