Plust other Thoughts (Spoilers)" If, when analyzing your comments, you just ask yourself how character X would react like in the real world, everything will make sense. Captain America-The living symbol of America. In Ultimates 1 he was accused by some as being a jingonestic thug. There never will exist a "living symbol of America". Don't get me started on our presidents (yes, all of them). It amazes me how presidents, from both the right and the left, are literally idolized and worshipped by many of their followers. Their followers believe that they can do no wrong and will justify every action, right or wrong. So if Captain America lived in the real world, he would never be embraced as a living symbol by the entire population. Just like the blind followers of our presidents, he too will have his followers that will defend every single one of his actions, right or wrong. Yes, Steve Rogers was a soldier before being Captain America, and remained a soldier. Honestly, this is exactly what an Ultimate Captain America living in the real world today would be like. A soldier. A killer. A defender of his country. Soldiers don't plant flowers; they are trained to follow orders and to kill. Yet Hawkeye just coldly executed her. I believe in the legal system (despite its flaws) and do not condone any type of murder. But honestly, if my family was brutally murdered like Hawkeye's, I'm pretty sure I would have done the same thing. I can be an ultra pacifist all I want, but the majority of men (ie. 99.99%) have a breaking point. Great men (example: Gandhi) are able to take it and not be broken. But remember, not all men are Gandhi. The Hulk- A cannibalistic monster who is not misunderstood. Exactly. It makes no sense for a monster (which is exactly what the Hulk is) to never ever kill an innocent human being. It never made sense in the regular Marvel Universe. When he gets angry, he smashes. When he smashes, he kills... both intentionally and unintentionally. One review I remember reading stated Thor was really the sole hero and was left asking what is the difference between the Liberators and the Ultimates? That's the point. America is NOT the best country in the world. America is NOT the only country with heroes. Defending America is no more or no less honorable than a Chinaman defending China or an Afghanee defending Afghanistan. America is not always right and moral. And neither are foreign countries either. Our media tends to convince us that there are only American heroes, but that is not true at all. The real world is not that black-and-white. Millar has thrown the Avengers into the real world, and portrayed them with near perfect accuracy (okay, so that's a slight exaggeration, but you know what I mean). Peace.

Everything you said about the characters was spot on, but your questioning seems to indicate that you're not too happy with how the characters were ultimately written and portrayed.
