Posted by Ed on 2/19/2007, 7:18 pm, in reply to "Meh" Ultimate X-men remains at the bottom of my pile, and is often only read when i have nothing else to do. It's simply not very good at all. Whereas Ultimates is, in my opinion, one of the few titles that actually consistantly puts out something that originally fulfilled it's brief. A Retelling of Classic characters updated for the modern world. How is time-travel, and alternate future selves, and various other things updated for the modern world? How is it even interesting when it's presented with Watered down artwork and poor dialogue. Ultimate Spider-man issues 103-104 were basically large fight scenes where very little information was gleemed, or characterisation. Ultimates Prodives both of those things, with Widescreen action and good characters. im prepared to wait to buy it, because i want to see how they finish it, i like the creative team, and yes, the delays are horrendus, but the story makes it worthwhile in my opinion. --Previous Message--

I fail to see how the fight that was a culmination of the pretty much all of Ultimates 2 was meaningless when it showed the heroes banding together, despite the fact families had been killed, they had been imprisoned etc. If anything it provided something lacking in other Ultimate titles - Action AND Characterisation. Ultimate Spider-Man has good scenes like in Issue 105, but the vast majority of the Clone Saga was meaningless Dross. It hurt to read.
: Ultimates 2 has already been diluted and is a
: monstrous joke. And what are we waiting
: for? The previous issue was a meaningless
: fight scene. Wow. Glad I waited for THAT.
: I didn't read much Millar or Hitch
: pre-Ultimates and I'll be reading less from
: now on.
