Posted by The One on 1/24/2007, 10:10 am, in reply to "Oh my god! What crap!" I have never dropped an Ultimate title until I read Kirkman's Ultimate X-Men. I dropped it an issue before the whole "Magician" arc ended (this despite the fact that I actually like Kirkman!). He started off writing this series quite decently actually, but then it went all over the place. I usually flip through UXM at the LCBS whenever it comes out, and I was actually quite intrigued with the fact that Ultimate Cable was actually Logan, which ALMOST made me want to pick it up again. Then I saw the Xavier "death" last issue and the skeleton. I just hate it when things are left unresolved like that. It just means that we'll be seeing Xavier again. Anyway, I have no intention picking up this book again. As for Ultimate Fantastic Four... if the next arc is just as blah as this current one, I'm going to have to drop that as well.

: Kirkman's UXM has hit a new low, guys.
: Stilted dialog, situations that barely make
: sense, and a climax that felt edited onto
: the book. It didn't help that the art feels
: spectacularly unsuited to action. Yes,
: individual panels were awesome but they also
: looked like poses and the fight pages didn't
: really tell a story to me but were just a
: series of snapshots with major things
: missing in between. Maybe I'd like the
: series more if there were a more suitable
: artist (I won't say better because he's
: doing a damn fine joba nd is a great artist.
: he's just the wrong artist). I found out
: recently I don't really dislike Garth Ennis'
: work. It's the artists he traditionally
: works with that ruin the stories for me and
: Ant Man has been great so maybe if Weiringo
: could be persuaded to go Ultimate who knows?
:
: Oh, and wanna bet we saw Ultimate Changeling
: in action this issue?
