[poll]" --Previous Message-- This is useful, but can only be used so far since the Ultimate universe already has technology decades ahead of our own. : (2) Realistic view? : (3) Fresh and different origins?

: (1) Modern day retake?
:
: This is where characters are introduced in
: the modern world where most readers can
: related to them better. Such as Ultimate
: Spider-man, where Peter Parker is going to
: high school in 2000 instead of 1950.
:
:
: This is where we realize that no one is
: perfect, and that there is a large gray area
: between good and evil. Such as the
: Ultimates, where politics and real-world
: events take part on how stories are
: constructed.
:
Realistic, yes but there is a difference between showing characters have a gray area and less then perfect compeared to having the characters one step away from being super-villains. (Pro. X, Hulk, etc.)
:
: This is where writers find it okay to tweak
: the origins of the characters (eg. the
: origin of Thor). Also such as Millar on
: Ultimate X-Men, where Wolverine was more of
: a jerk than a hero. Such as Ultimate Green
: Goblin, where he is somewhat different than
: than his Marvel Universe counterpart.
:
I think the origins can be tweaked to a degree, but not so far as to make the character unrecognizable.
