Speaking just for myself, I have my own personal religion. It is basically Christian....but with this fundamental premise:
In all likelihood, no living, breathing human has ever known with certainty what the universe, God, or the afterlife is all about. The reason is that the scope of it all is way beyond the horizon of human comprehension. Therefore, any person or any religion that claims to know the truth is speculating--regardless of their claims to the contrary. Each of us should believe what we feel comfortable believing...and leave it at that. Never mind what the next person believes. And, should that next person be interested in hearing what we think, we should make it clear going in that what we are about to share is not truth, but speculation."
And that's it in a nutshell. It doesn't need superficial labels like "New Age", "spiritual" or "Christian". I can follow what I believe to be the essence of Jesus without caring one twit about whether someone out there considers it Christian or not; I am not trying to buy myself a ticket to heaven, only some peace of mind here on earth.
But, again, that's speaking solely for myself.
