Piracetam has not been shown to have any benefit. There are two recent studies on the value of piracetam, one in the US and
one in Canada. Dr. Robert Haslam, chairman of the DSRF Health and
DEvelopment Board, was involved in an excellent study in Toronto which
demonstrated that there were no benefits from the drug but were frequently
undesirable side effects. The US study led by Dr. George Capone, was a
pilot study with a small number of children. It found the same results as
the Toronto study but they are considering another study with changed dosage.
