It looks like Wikipedia just decided to christen him "junior" since his daddy's name was Don(ald), too. Since they say his grandfather's name was the same, I'd think he'd be appropriately named Don McLean III, but he's been known publicly by plain old "Don McLean" for so long, I don't really see a need to modify it at all. I say just ignore it - seems to be what Don has done all his life, at least as far as I can tell.
