Sorry Marty for hijacking your birthday thread a little, but don't you realise how your birthday was marked over here!!! I'll remember forever when the match was whenever your birthday comes around again!
Oh yes, Bill, my cover is blown!! Like most of the 90,000 or so spectators, I supported both sides. There was a loud collective roar each time someone scored on either side, but the loudest of all was when the wholly unexpected and brilliant first goal for Malaysia came!!
It wasn't the national side that was playing, it was mainly the Under-23s plus 4 senior players, BUT there was a new coach, who made the difference! The Malaysians played in blue and not the striped tiger colours of the national team. A few spectators expressed how the others felt by wearing red MU jerseys, hairbands, bandanas or scarves in the Malaysian national team colours & some even painted the Malaysian flag on their faces.
There's going to be another match today between the same teams, in lieu of the sadly cancelled Jakarta one. I hope MU doesn't slaughter us this time!!
