Thanks for all of your good thoughts and wishes. He had a good life and I'm pretty certain he didn't suffer at the end. He just had had enough, I guess, or maybe there was something wrong that was beyond the vet's ability to diagnose. Anyway, Sabrina and I are clinging to each other in comfort and we'll be OK.
