Hi Guys - OK, two nights ago, Whitey hadn't come out from under the dresser at all (that I had seen) for 2 1/2 days, so I gave him the "go to the light/go with Tommy" speech and told him this was getting ridiculous. I didn't want him suffering and if he was starving himself and not drinking, that's what was happening. I gave the speech (for about the 6th time, but it was more intense) because I heard a noise I thought was him struggling to breathe. Turns out that noise was the new AIR CONDITIONER we got about a week ago.
Anyway, right after I gave the speech, he came OUT and started drinking, a lot. He also decided to lie under the desk instead of going back under the dresser. I was overjoyed, but I thought he just came out to say goodbye. I called Louis in and he hung out in my hut for a few hours, then we went to bed. I blocked off the bottom of the dresser - I'd had enough of that hiding shit.
Yesterday morning, Whitey drank again and I felt slightly encouraged. At least he'd decided not to completely give up. When I got home last night, he jumped up ON MY BED. Whoa. He hadn't lay on my bed for at least a week. Now, he used a stepping stool to get up there and his back end is wobbly when he walks, but it's progress.
THEN, he STAYED on my bed all night and, when I woke up this morning, he was on my pillow curled around my head. AWWWWWWWW. He drank a LOT more this morning, too. I wish he'd try to eat, but one thing at a time.
I figure that he must have been sneaking out to drink those days that I didn't see him or he'd be dead. Still, he wouldn't show himself, even for me. Now, I'm cautiously optimistic, but I know that, even though he seems to have decided to at least TRY to live, he has a long way to go. He's skin and bones. Literally. I had stopped giving him the vitamin because I didn't want to prolong his torture, but I want to start giving it to him. The only problem is that I'm afraid it will badly upset his empty stomach.
Any ideas?
