I don't see why people are so shocked that Michael Jackson died - has anybody taken a LOOK at him during the past 10 years or so? Also, I must have heard at least 20 years ago that he was addicted to prescription painkillers and, in his position, nobody was about to tell him, "Stop doing that, Michael," and, if anyone did, I'm sure he would have just ignored them or frozen them out of his world.
Read what Lisa Marie Presley posted on her blog about his death (and their marriage). Apparently, she tried to "save" him, but had to get out for the sake of her kids and her sanity. You can't "save" someone in that position, anyway - they do it themselves or it doesn't happen.
I think he was a great singer and dancer (to call him a "musician" would be stretching his talent, I think). Definitely the biggest celebrity death we've seen for a while.
Poor Farrah Fawcett picked a bad day to die - she got completely overshadowed by the MJ story. In the end, though, that could be a GOOD thing for her family - maybe they'll end up with a bit more privacy now that 99% of the journalists will be busy covering the Michael story/funeral/etc.
