Later last night, I read in my "hut" where I live with the kitties (I also live in the main house - the hut is like a guesthouse thingy for me and them) and I talked to Whitey a lot trying to encourage him and assure him Mommy loved him and all that stuff. He wouldn't come out from under the dresser all evening. I finally went to bed and I mentally talked to Tommy, my old cat who died almost 2 years ago, and asked him to help Whitey if he could. Then I told Whitey that if he is in pain or really sick and needs to go to Happy Cat Land, that it's OK, he can go. I said that Sabrina and I would miss him, but we'd be OK, and not to worry about us. I told him to do what's best for him and if he wants to go with Tommy, it's OK.
You know what? Right after I finished saying that, he came out. It was almost spooky.
Today he drank again when I got home, although not as much as yesterday. I can't decide if I'm helping him or prolonging torture by giving him liquid vitamins - they must upset his empty stomach and I don't want to make him miserable (or moreso than he already is). I'm playing it by ear here. I don't think he has more than another 2-3 days, at the most.
Sabrina is upset about it - she's clinging to me and she's not a clingy cat. She wanted to lie on my chest and have me pet her all night last night, but by about 2:30, I just HAD to get some sleep.
Anyway, pray that if he has to go that it will be peaceful and painless, and that he won't be afraid. That's all I can ask, really. Of course, if he suddenly turns around, that would be great, but I think that's unrealistic at this point.
