AT LEAST YOU'RE NOT PAYING DOUBLE!!!
This is the pricing in my part of the world and I just left the following comment on the official website - awaiting moderation.....
To me, $ 20 dollars for a Don McLean CD is perfect. Actually, I would spend my last penny on Don’s music and I am eternally grateful that he still tours and even produces more music.
However, here are a few facts that I came across regarding the pricing of the CD when ordering from Europe:
The CD costs $ 20 which is exactly € 14 (according to XE currency converter). I just paid € 27.75 through the website which is double the price. That is just plain wrong!
It seems that all that currency exchange is adding up and there should at least be a Euro price. After all, Don does have a lot of fans in Europe and it is not our fault that the British Pound is so weak. I buy pretty much everything over the Internet, a lot from the US and the UK. Postage is very cheap - all my CDs come from the US and generally arrive within a week. Also, websites usually display an equivalent and informed Euro price. Not so on this site which I find quite unprofessional.
Paying twice the original price is not a good marketing strategy. People are not stupid. I would have loved to buy a few CDs for friends but ordering one for double the price has left a bit of a bitter aftertaste.
