The thread was about an amazing price of £20 for a single CD - $31.78 according to the conversion website - at a time when there is a credit crunch and CD sales are falling dramatically.
I agree that ticket prices are different, you are happy to pay the market rate for a concert experience.
I had a quick look on HMV and the only CD I could find with a £20 (recommended) price tag was by Pink but that was a 4 CD set and was discounted to £13. Now if the Don CD also included the digitally remastered DVD of 'Till Tomorrow' . . . mmmmmm
I do agree though with Sir Alan 'Sugar Sugar' that it is really great that Don is releasing new material. I remember wandering back to the Don stable whilst in a Virgin Megastore in Central London years ago and being stunned by the amount of compilations and best ofs and collections with even second versions of American Pie, Vincent and I think third versions of Castles in the Air. Not to mention the Christmas albums (I told you NOT to mention them
).
It is good that he is recording new material. I would like to hear more track excerpts. Don's voice still sounds great despite the sometimes intrusive country style backing. That is the style these days, Loudon Wainwright does the same on his albums. He was told for years by countless record companies that "there's just no demand for guys with guitars".
