Posted by David Medinnus on 10/4/2005, 2:59 pm, in reply to "Re: Not really" Well, the Religious Right has been known to go a little too far - while there may be a legitimate point in their protest of W.I.T.C.H. and/or Harry Potter and/or other non-Christian-theme products? They also seem to see the need to protect them from science. : You have a market scheme that aimed at kids And while you're discoursing on suicide rates, check the ones of the children of the religeous right who happen to be gay, or some other thing considered "deviant and sinful". Oh, and God forbid - pun not intended - that there might be some merit in the Wiccan/Pagan religions - not that they'll discover it through Harry Potter or WITCH, which are so short on any real occultism as to be laughable. Any correlation drawn between WITCH and anything but light entertainment is pretty far-fetched. Not that I hold the extreme Left in any greater esteem - the operative word being "extreme". : Their incessent need? Absolutely. You don't see anyone else - the United Jewish League, the Islamic Council, or somesuch constantly protesting Christian Power Comics and their pro-Christian message? Oh please. Disney may have lots of money, but they have produced enough absolute disasters that it should be apparent to anyone that they can't force anything. Crap Disney product rots on the shelf. Period. And so reminiscent of what the Right Wing demands of their constituency - don't question. Obey. I mean, c'mon. The Religious Right makes no bones about how they want the government to legislate morality in accord with their own narrow precepts. How they want to MAKE everyone obey, regardless of their own personal religious convictions. There are many - many many many! - Christians and Christian organizations whose words and acts would make me proud to be numbered amongst them - but the "Religeous Reich" isn't among them. And um... he said that it was amusing (in a disturbing kind of way) to watch the RR run around screaming "the Sky Is Falling" about something as trivial in general as Disney product, and in particular the exceptionally lightweight W.I.T.C.H.

: The implication that zeal is somehow wrong,

: over a subject that has a high rate of

: So, when adults want to protect their own

: FORCES their merchandise on the public.
: This public can't speak up, in your opinion.
: They have to go hide their head in the
: corner and not take part of the public

: Now that population can't watch movies,
: speak against immorality, protect their own
