I'll make this as simple as possible for you and I'll stick to the point, because MY opinion of YOU would defer from the topic-so in contrast to you I won't "go there". I BELIEVE that Dog's have a natural, innate aversion to aggression towards humans.Contrary to what some people believe-most dogs aren't as apt to "engage" someone as they may appear to be. Breeding comes into play, and then of course, training(LOTS). In the Dogo world,Pit Bull world etc. etc.(I mean THE REAL "working" ONES)-dogs that showed {unreasonable-lack of a better word} human aggression,WERE NOT TOLERATED-hopefully you understand why. When you bring that out and then -as YOU ARE SUGGESTING-selectively breed for that, then you may be "opening up a can of worms" that does not need to be opened. And that might happen thru ignorance,a misunderstanding of "working". Look what happened to a few other breeds when they were popularized for their aggression(or capabilities for that) towards humans. Now...MOST people(I know Hammer does) know that training a STABLE dog in bitework does not make that dog anything like the "junkyard";"attack" dog that so many people think of when they hear "bitework","SCHUTZHUND","PROTECTION TRAINED" and etc etc. The ones that are ignorant and have NO clue and encourage aggression because they have short penises and are looking for an extension, well they set the pace, and -MINIMALLY- put the breed into an area where it doesn't need to "go" (I'll be short there-because somehow this seems like a waste of time to me). When you allow,OR EXCUSE ME,"Encourage" those types of people to selectively breed for a trait (that used to mean CULL THAT DOG)because now that BREED'S emphasis has been shifted(and now this is "acceptable"-when in reality-THOSE people are the ones who have a "junkyard" mentality and no understanding of "working")-and are seeing them used for that type of work, well-to be simple-you set the pace for the destruction of this breed-and By destruction I do not mean elimination.Responsible people,by no means bother me, its the irresponsible ones who aren't "smart" enough to understand behavior- who worry me. This breed has a PURPOSE-there's NO need to change that, and put an emphasis onto something that could be detrimental to the breed. There are plenty of breeds that are specialized for police work-and have been bred selectively for that type of work-they will always be the dogs of choice-and if you are as experienced as you want us all to believe, THEN you will understand just why.To suggest that we will ever reach THAT level with this breed is naivette-it wasn't selectively bred for that type of work and for a reason maybe,,, I worked a few Dogos in protection work,French Ring and Schutzhund.I titled and owned the First Dogo to recieve a Schutzhund III.I worked one in French Ring and had he not blown out his Cruciate ligament then I am sure that he would have done as well. I will talk about the Dogos that I OWNED(and not the ones that I worked) Both of my Dogos were also worked at 2 different Police facilities(In california),and in Personal Protection. They were both(UNTIL THE 2ND ONES INJURY) amazing athletes The first Dog was high in prey drive and a good tracker-he could hurt you and he WOULD catch you-he was amicable and the work was rewarding, fun for him.He was lower in Defense, needed to be pushed to "fight" but when he was pushed and forced to fight his power was impressive. The second Dog was(is)HIGH in Defense (and Fight Drive)and an INCREDIBLE tracker-he WOULD find you,and he was more interested in FIGHTING you than in "catching" you...One of our regular "helpers"(an experienced helper) refused to work him.He was an amazing "fighter" and he usually did damage. When he was about 21 months(if memory serves me) he started to have a problem "outing" ( which some people would not call a "problem"). We (experienced dog people) tried a few things and then went to Electricity,(i.e collar) -it wasn't working...and as the intensity increased-he went the "other" way-the level of his fight increased. The obvious was his association with WHERE the "stimulus"(....) was coming from. 99.9 of Dogs would have shut down, released etc etc-AT A LOWER LEVEL-he Fought HARDER at the Highest level... There is an experienced F.R. man "here"-one of the most reputable in the Industry-Jerry Cudahy-and I called him for advice and help.I think that he will remember my frustration with this. Minimally(TO HELP YOU UNDERSTAND) Consider that Dog in the hands of some inexperienced person who "gets off" on that type of thing...what are the ramifications? Understand this-this breed is a very capable protection dog-and with it's exceptional athletic abilities it is capable of "performing" well.It is a GREAT family dog with great instincts for protection of it's family-but those traits differ from what you are suggesting. The working breeds/dogs from Europe have been selectively bred to perform THEIR job,I doubt that any one of them would last on a hunt in Argentina,Texas,Georgia,California,Florida etc etc..however they are extremely successful in doing what they have been bred,100 plus years, to do: man work, police work etc etc...that's the reason that they exist..while the reason for this breed's existence is... What would be the need to take THIS BREED and change the reason for it's creation...???? I mean why? especially by changing that into something that could have negative ramifications for this breed-and I mean that based on what we have all seen in the last few decades in our "fight" for this breed.... And then put an emphahsis on changing it physically...??? MINIMALLY: You have got enough of those DERELICTS-like the puppy millers that I described above-ALREADY within this breed....Consider what would happen-if those lowlifes, had another "reason" to MILL this breed. And maybe: The difficulty in getting THIS breed to operate at the level of the breeds, which have been selectively bred for 100 years, is probably enough to discourage most REAL people, but that's not who we need to be concerned about... Why even bother risking the possibilities when there are breeds that already do the job-EFFECTIVELY and are already physically(size)suited for the work. Forgive me for being blunt-but what you are suggesting makes NO sense to me... Stick around for a few years and watch this laughable "circus"(here in the states) that this breed has experienced/become and maybe you'll get a better understanding. I asked your name for one reason-wanted to know WHO I was speaking with. if you have a problem with that so be it-I can "live" with that-no significance to me at THIS point. As for "punking" you-you need a thicker skin. Hammer and I have been around this breed and have seen the slime and ignorant punks who make money off of milling this breed....And or those who profess to either "know better" and who own this breed for one purpose only-which has nothing to do with continuing, improving, perfecting the "story" of this breed, but only filling THEIR OWN pockets. When you've been around this breed for a "few years" you might have a better understanding. Watch the people who sacrifice and WORK for this breed get denigrated by the ones who know nothing, appreciate nothing, or who claim "expertise" because they earn their living off of milling this breed. Good luck you, Aaron B
