No u.c.- That's how the Great Dane ended up in the anals(sic) of History as (what was ONCE)the "great boar hunter".... by the implication that JUST because it IS a dog that WAS ONCE used for the purpose of Boar hunting-it would ALWAYS remain that.
You see(for those who have a hard time understanding this) If you do NOT continue to SELECTIVELY breed for the traits-THEN THOSE TRAITS WILL DISAPPEAR.
If you doubt that-then go out and get a German Shepherd that has been bred HERE for PERVERTED "looks"(i.e what some Moron HERE thinks is good looking) and then compare that to a REAL shepherd(or any other WORKING breed) from Europe-WHERE THE EMPHASIS has been kept "in place"...Tell me the difference that you see.(???)
And unless you are blinded by your ignorance-you WILL see a difference and then UNDERSTAND the reality of breeding selectively-And the reason FOR THIS breed BEFORE- it was bred for,ONLY, MONEY and NOT it's abilty to hunt.
Same applies to THIS breed-IF YOU WANT A HUNTER-then (SINCE THIS BREED HAS BEEN AMERICANIZED and bred away from hunting and more towards looks and etc)you need to look for someone who breeds for that trait.
IF you are just looking for a "Dogo" or I mean-something that looks like one-then this is a moot point.
I only looked at one of those "breeders"(i.e web site) and there was NOTHING about HUNTING these dogs.
WOW IMAGINE THAT....A HUNTING breed being reproduced with NO emphasis on the REASON FOR ITS EXISTENCE...

If your(generic) intent is to HUNT-then go with a Dog whose parents have proven themselves as HUNTERS, A dog that has been bred FOR THE PURPOSE for which you have selected THIS breed.
After 20 plus years in this breed and watching the proliferation of puppy millers
(MAKING LOTS OF MONEY-WITHOUT PUTTING ANY EFFORT INTO CULLING/BREEDING SELECTIVELY),within this breed,and then seeing some of their "CHAMPION"'S progeny curr or NOT do what this breed CAN AND SHOULD do-well I think that I may have a pretty good understanding.
