Thank you both for your thoughts and feedback -
As far as a rescue dog our thinking was in line with Marcelo's comments - We know that we will be getting a dog that has a high prey drive in its nature, and we know that we need to be aware of dominace issues and the dogs place in our lives - what we will not be ready for - or what we hope that we will never have is an unpredictable dog whether it is around people or other animals. I guess our thought was that by raising the pup ourselves, we would have the best possible chance of ensuring a stable, predictable temperment.
We are planning on getting a female for our first dogo pup - would you guys agree that there females are generally a bit easier to bring up than males? if so in what way - mostly in terms of dominance issues and them challenging for their place in the pack? or are there other big differences in the males vs. females that i should be aware of?
again, thanks for the insights and i will keep everyone updated
