Hi Everyone,
I have enjoyed reading the message board - seems like lots of great experience on here. I am planning on bringing home my first dogo pup this coming spring. I have spent the last 2 years doing my research before finally making the commitment. I am not a hunter, however, watching these dogs in action is pretty inspiring and i would like to give it a shot some day. The "plan" for our dogo pup will to be a great family companion, running partner and outdoor activity companion.
Anyways even though i have been learning about the dogo for 2 years and i truly feel i am ready for the commitment, i do have some second thoughts - sometimes it seems the more i read and talk to people the more it feels like people are trying to scare you away from the breed.
Everyone seems to say the dogos are great if you have had experience with strong minded dogs - i have not owned a strong minded breed or a bully breed before. However, I have done as much research as possible and i have traveled to meet dogo's first hand. I also have spent time with cane corso's which a friend of mine owns. I am ready to be a firm leader and i have a trainer lined up to help with significant cane corso and mastiff experience - i guess my question is given all the research i have done, and even though i have met several great dogo's, and even though i have the trainer lined up - am i naive to think that i am well prepared to bring home my first dogo puppy? Since i have not had a strong minded dog before is it simply not a good decision for me to bring home a dogo puppy?
Again, i really think i have done everything possible to be well prepared and to raise a great dogo and member of the family - just sometimes i second guess my self - maybe i just read too many articles
Thanks for any thoughts, opinions or advice!
