The other wildlife I was refering to are coyotes, fox, not so much skunks, but small game that would put up a fight, as I would expect them to engage in anything that would want to fight. I hope the puma(here they're called Panthers) will run away and find a tree, as they are protected by the state.
I guess this is also something that may not weigh in for you, but what kind of protective gear is going to fit correctly on a puppy. I can't see spending $200+- for vest/collar only to be grown out of in a few months(if we're lucky).
I guess I will start running the pups as soon as they can keep up. I'll let you know how it works out.
