most of the "ancient" breeds today are mixes w/the name stuck on them. a few might even have a SMALL amount of the breed they claim to be in their background. all the fancy stories about "nearly extinct" and combing the countryside looking for the few remaining specimens are fairy tales. it stems mostly from the show fancy in the USA & EU, who love to make up these fairy tales & pass them off as truth.
