We had a 4 wheeler loaded with Tripps or Genes Bulldogs (and I thought Brigus,also)following us as we were trying to chase Tripps baydog and that, Hog down.I think that we were chasing him for about 20 minutes,and somehow the 4 wheeler got lost-and we went over a hill and that hog was standing there and I let Mike off lead and as I did that, I realized that the other dogs weren't there.
I,mistakenly,thought that they were behind us.
When Mike hit that Hog the Hog hooked him and flipped him and Mike cartwheeled over his back.I had never seen anything like that and I was SURE that Mike was dead.Tripp yelled something at Joe-screaming for the other dogs but they weren't there.We were about 30 yards from the boar and Mike got up and locked on the Hog for a few seconds and then got shook off,the hog ran and Mike was chasing him.I remember Tripp saying something about the other dogs as I ran off chasing "Mike" and the hog.They went down into that thick ravine where I couln't see anything and I was looking for a trail in. I knew that I had to get there,but it was hard to find them.I was rehearsing the story that I was going to tell Jill about How Mike got killed...she had threatened me before this hunt about keeping him safe.I heard some screaming and-Yeah you're(and Taylor) right-it was Dean,and maybe you(yelling-I know that you were there).I remember that The Hog had Mike bowled up against the tree and I thought Mike was dead,but as I got closer I could see that Mike was locked on the ear,and he had a grip.I remember just being angry-not fearful and I was looking for a spot.
But here's where this differs for me-I thought that the hog was either coming after me or trying to get away or Mike got him up-because they went downhill a bit into that rutt and Mike had him stuck and that's when I went in and stuck him..but maybe I stuck him first while he was on top of Mike because I remember being there,AND yelling and then he got around into that rutt/ditch.I gotta ask Dean what he remembers also.
I thought that Taylor was with Larry-the lodge owner...damn I am losing my mind.
I'm getting old,I guess.
I didn't realize that I stuck him that many times but I remember being angrier than I had been before,and I wouldn't have been able to tie him being that angry-lol.
I forgot what I said to Joe-but Either Taylor or I said something to him about "Mikey" comment.
It was one of those hunts that I truly wish that I had a video of.
Thanks for FINALLY telling me this-it only took what-3 years-lol.I'm glad that you and Taylor(and Dean) were there-was a fun and exciting few hunts.
I am pretty sure that this picture was from that hunt,but it might have been another hunt-maybe even the one with Howard.
I just previewed this post.See the stitches-that line under his choker chain? that was the Boar that Howard got.
Dave how did you like the food at that place?lol.Damn I got a craving for some southern cooking now!
