That dog was Lanín, father of immortal Allen. And yes, he got lost during a hunt and we couldn't find him. After I left Patagonia, Luis would every day, while working, be looking for him. I called him once, and he said to me that he thought the dog was ok, since he had not seen buzzards circling the sky. About 2 weeks after he was lost, Luis found him wandering in the woods like a wild animal, well nourished, and no troubles at all.
Lanín...
And a nice pig at a time I had no gray hairs....hard to remember.
