Tis the time of year that all the spooks, goblins and horror movies appear. Although some of the later horror pics are good, nothing but nothing beats the best vampire of them all, Bela Lugosi! His appearance in that 1931 movie is classic. The film noir, with fog and musty castle, and erie cemeteries would send our minds racing. Over the years, the Saturday matinees at the Glenwood would feature Dracula, Wolfman and Frankenstein combinations often. They were always a hit and would fill the theatre with screams. Right up into the 1950's that original 1931 Dracula movie still instilled fear in us. What a penultimate vampire Bela was! Sad that his career never progressed from his vampiric roles. Drug addiction and almost penniless he died almost forgotten at the time. He was buried in his vampire cape.
Who can forget "The bridge is out, you vill haf
to stay the night!"
