Does anybody remember the Waxgaiser Tram? Waxgaiser, on Myrtle Ave., was THE place to go for paint, wall paper etc. When you paid your bill at the service counter, the bill and the cash was placed in a wire basket. This was then hoisted, by an overhead cable system, to a second floor pod. There, the bill was processed, change made, and the basket made it back overhead to the starting point. To a small kid, like me, it was a fascinating thing to watch these transactions! Gentler days.
