We had a lovely Independence Day weekend - my kiddos took me out for a surprise lunch Friday! Always a fun time. Saturday we pretty much cocooned - steaks on the grill and fireworks on TV. Pretty much the same yesterday - my big deal was reorganizing my shoe closet, and with the number of pairs of shoes I have, that IS a big deal. 
Da Elder Son has his second surgery tomorrow - God willing and the crick don't rise, that'll be the end of the surgeries for him - he's been enduring this odyssey since he fell back at the beginning of March. Barring unforeseen circumstances, I won't have to go to DC this time - the procedure is relatively minor and he should be able to get around just fine with the inflatable cast he's been using. He'll have 3 weeks of recovery before he starts physical therapy, and when he's done with that, he'll get a clean bill of health and will be able to resume his running and bicycling - within reason, of course. He's still scheduled to go to Afghanistan in April, 2010. Doesn't make me happy, of course, but whaddaya gonna do - military service is his chosen career path, he loves what he does, and I support him 100%. Doesn't mean I don't worry.
It's overcast and very humid this morning - s'pozed to storm this afternoon ... but it's about 15 degrees cooler than it has been for the past 2 or 3 weeks - and that's a most welcome relief.
