I was a sophomore in high school that snowy winter. We had a teacher's strike in 1968 and then the blizzard. They closed the schools for a few days (the article said 3, but I think it was a week in Queens) and so they tacked on an extra hour a day. I was on late session so I didn't get out of school until 5 PM so we didn't have any busses to take us home because they were being used for Rush Hour. That sure was a crappy year. Good old Mayor Lindsey.
