Posted by Mike Carr If there were a Pro Stock class within Comp, how many would actually try it? Not sure about some of the Divisonal-level tracks outside Div 1, but I honestly can not see WJ, Anderson/Line, Connelly, etc going to a track such as Numidia or Delmar to "test". Frankly, the tracks are far from the National-event calibur tracks on which they currently compete. Not to mention the fact that they wouldn't be the star attraction anymore, forced to pit in the dirt/grass, pay for entry, crew, etc. Second, IF these teams did decide to go test at a Div race, the Index would be shot before July. Other than a select few with bracket racing experience (Connelly, Line, who was the 1993 Stock World Champ, and a few others), you wouldn't see much "tightening" the MOV at the stripe, or using the Rampy technique of losing a round to win the war. They wouldn't be chasing points enough to worry about saving Index--just making the best, i.e. quickest runs possible. I could see them racing at National events, to gain data for their "regular" Pro Stock cars at given races (especially near the end of the season). In that regard, could we not expect a NASCAR "Busch-whacker" effect? Imagine near the end of the year, with a heated Comp battle for the title, and at Vegas a half dozen top-flite Pro Stock teams enter, and muck up the works? Not sure how well that would go over. I could be wrong though. Perhaps there would be more participation that I am forecasting here. I don't exactly anticipate a landslide of Pro Stock teams, at least the top ones, competing in Comp. Look at the A/PM and AA/PM class participation (two of each in 2006 as of Aug 1st, one and four, respectively in all of 2005). Severely lacking. I suspect a similar scenario in a Pro Stock class within Comp. Just my respectful $.02 (with change coming). Mike Carr

I don't run Comp, first off, so maybe my opinion(s) mean jack squat. I've been asked before why I don't post much on my own Forum, that is the reason. Unless I have strong opinions/feelings on a topic. This is one of those.
