Everybody and their brother looking for a class that fits the parts they have laying around the garage. Here are some simple facts...the Miskovsky team is complaining about running against the 5 speed cars with their buick, powerglide fuel injected car. Putting aside they have stuff that is 2 generations obsolete, consider the following...Kent & Tanksley blow the dust off their B/ED stuff, put 180# in the car (which woud probably make it safer), add a second dominator and run off of a 7.72 index. That car has been 6.8s. You add .17 for the weight and .10 for the carb, so your 6.8s are now 6.9s on the 7.72 index. So while you got a break and got .15, but how long will that last. You have the same predicament. Let's also look at the A/DA and B/DA deal. Bailey, Henderson and Gebhardt can take their 6.6 A/ED cars, add a second 4bbl, dry sump and have an index .02 slower than they have in A/ED, basically netting them .08-.10. And let's not even analyze what would happen if Heckel swallowed his pride and decided to run A/DA or B/DA. The same with the 4.7 Pro Stock car class. It's going to be just like the truck deal. They give it a reasonable index and a player decides to show up at a points race and knocks .10 off it in test mode. The point of all of this is that people who are not competitive in their current class are pushing for classes to be developed instead of developing for the class. What they don't realize is that competitive teams that just have to add weight, add a carb or are willing to invest in up-to-date technology to jump into these ridiculously soft classes are going to continue to do so in order to gain .10 or more. My question to all of you is this...what is the next step after your new class index gets crushed? You've already demonstrated you're not willing to invest to bring the best available equipment to the battlefield. Will you then campaign for index, or another bogus class to meet your budget?
