Posted by susan on September 3, 2003, 12:27 am THANK YOU! However, I am looking for a support group in Manhattan for the siblings and significant others of what I am beginning to wonder are part of a social death. I have attended a group years back at the NAMI office, yet I wonder if there is somewhere a positive, empowering group other than NAMI. They were and have been very kind in the Sib. group on Park, however I find that the focus for me is on the pharmacy boulevard and I am looking for a quiet street with less grudge and judgement. Any ideas? Please post! I also wanted to add that a social death is not such a terrible thing if the denizens are riddled with harsh p.o.v. by the way, i borrowed that line from the film Philidelphia and Hank's character. He said that aids victims must be compensated for their living social death of stigmatta. I am very happy as a stressed out care-giver traversing both worlds, but I could use some support from other in the same frame of reference. thank you in advance!
