I don't know if this is the right William Gillett. But my grandfather's name was Leon Gillett and his father's name was William. He was known as "Big Bill". His wife's name was Derona (Davis). They lived in the Chicago area and that's where Leon was born. They later moved to Michigan. They may have lived in the Lansing(MI) area, as I understand I have relation around there. Although I've never had any contact with them.
You may find this interesting. Leon (my grandfather) was killed after escaping from the Lake County MI jail. He and another man, named Johnny Lane tried to jump a train and Leon fell and was run over, and killed.
So, I don't know if we share the same blood, but maybe. Perhaps you've heard from some of the Gillett's around the Lansing MI area. Drop me an e-mail if any of this fits.
