The town of Gillett, Arkansas was named for Francis M. Gillett, a banker in New York, who helped with the underwriting of the railroad to this South Arkansas County community in the late 1890's. I think the year the community took his name was 1892, although it wasn't incorporated as Gillett, Ark until 1906. Next year (2006) a Centennial will be celebrated and I am looking for additional information on Francis. Can someone direct me to a site that might have additional information. John
