1930's B&LE Passenger Trains

Please forgive my ignorance, but I'm hoping someone can help me with a little research. I'm writing a children's book (www.michaeldbeil.com) in which much of the action takes place on a a B&LE train in 1936. Can anyone tell me how many cars (and the types) that would have made up a typical passenger train? And am I right in assuming that there would NOT have been a caboose? Can you direct me to any photos of the interiors of the passenger cars, including the part where the conductor would have had to relax? Thanks in advance for your help!
