Even though these cars were later restricted to service on the BLE and URR they could bee seen back in the day on the B&O/Chessie System. According to the Chessie System Railroads Pennsylvania Division Timetable N0.4 (effective Friday October 1, 1982) it states:
"BLE 85000 through 85299, inclusive, and BLE 90000 through 92999, inclusive, are restricted to 45 MPH when traveling in a solid train of empty hopper cars.
These cars will be identified by the word “ALERT” shown on the train profile."
Funny thing is the Bessemer 90000s were allowed to go faster than Amtrak SDP40s, CR SD45-2s, and N&W/SOU SD40-2s that operated over the Chessie.
